You're at different levels
This is the most common error. If one of you is advanced and the other is still developing consistency, buying two of the same advanced racket handicaps the less experienced player badly. A diamond-shaped, high-balance racket has a small sweet spot — it punishes the mishits that developing players still make regularly.
The stronger player gains nothing from the match, and the weaker player gets worse. Buy separately.
You play different roles
Many pairs split into an attacking player and a defensive player.
